Through the years of 2020 &2021 SCMFB distributed more food than ever reaching over 2 Million pounds!
Each month we are providing around a 50 pound box of food to on average 1,100 families during our regular distribution. Additionally, we are providing about 450 families on a Saturday distribution around a 50 pound box of food. About half of our total pounds distributed are fresh produce items.
We are a nonprofit organization that accomplishes our program totally through donations of time, food purchased and supplied from the Greater Pittsburgh Food Bank, donations from farmers, and donations of money.
Helping our brothers and sisters can be a rewarding in many aspects of our lives. It helps us to cultivate compassion, generosity, and most importantly love for our fellow man. If you are interested in somehow being part of our program and its mission, there are many ways you can help.
If you wish to help as a volunteer at one or more of our distributions sites and/or if you can help load the truck on our distribution days, please email our volunteer coordinator, Tom Shaffer at tnshaffer@comcast.net.
